This course is specifically designed for counsellors and psychotherapists and for those working with different ethnic groups. psychologists, social workers, support workers and all workers in the caring professions. The course is also suitable for those looking to enter into a counselling career and prepare themselves to work towards the first stage of gaining qualifications to further their development and is based on gaining an understanding of other cultures and looks at counselling from a Christian, African, Islamic, Hindu and Sikhi perspective. This enables the trainees to compare the differences to western culture counselling. The course includes visits to Hindu and Sikh temples, a Church and a Mosque. What will be involved? The course does not involve academic work, but does involve group work, role playing and personal development. The course will be carried out over two weekends and a Saturday, covering ten weeks worth of information. What will be gained? Attendees will have a better understanding of faith and culture-based counselling and be more aware of the way in which counselling can be perceived by different groups. Following successful completion of the course, attendees will be awarded with a recognised certificate by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
